1. Who we are
Rustlings Rival is an open-source learning platform: interactive Rust exercises run right in your browser.
2. Data we collect
We collect no personal data and use no analytics or advertising. Only what the service needs is stored:
- Username and password — as a bcrypt hash; the password itself is never stored.
- Lesson progress and the last opened position.
- Editor settings, theme and the selected track — in the browser only.
- No session recordings, heatmaps or analytics scripts.
This data cannot identify you outside the service.
3. Cookies and local storage
We do not ask for cookie consent: there are no analytics or third-party cookies here. The only cookie is technical:
-
rival_web— login session (JWT, up to 30 days), HttpOnly and Secure. - Progress and settings live in your browser's localStorage and are never sent anywhere.
Deleting the cookie logs you out; your progress stays locally.
4. Why we store it
Only so that login and progress saving work. We share nothing with third parties and use nothing for advertising.
5. Legal basis
Processing is needed to run the service and is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time — for example by clearing site data in your browser.
6. Your rights
You can:
- request a copy, correction or deletion of your data;
- log out and clear local data at any time;
- delete your account — write to us and we will erase the data.
